Dominque Easley is a defensive lineman for the New England Patriots. He was a first round draft choice of the 2015 Super Bowl champions out of the University of Florida in 2014. Easley’s sister was diagnosed in 2011 with fibromyalgia after multiple visits to medical doctors. Destinee was only 12 years old at the time. She was very active in school but had to drop out due to the severity of the symptoms. Easley mentioned that the pain has become so bad that she was just in a wheelchair a few weeks ago. Easley started a foundation to raise awareness and is hosting a football camp to donate the proceeds to the cause.
What Exactly Is Fibromyalgia?
Fibromyalgia affects over 5 million people in the United States. Fibromyalgia is a chronic disease that affects the body by causing bilateral widespread pain. This pain has been recently associated with a problem with the nervous system. Lab reports show normal despite having so many health issues. These patients have a heightened feeling of pain and trigger points not normally felt all over the body. Other signs and symptoms include extreme fatigue, headaches, difficulty sleeping and stress that comes and goes. However, the pain can become so bad that fibromyalgia patients’ quality of life is drastically decreased.

What Else Could Destinee Do For Her Fibromyalgia?
Since pain is perceived in the body through the nervous system, one of the most important areas of the central nervous system is the brainstem. The brainstem is located at the top of neck and protected by the top two bones of the spine. When these bones become misaligned, there is pressure on the brain stem which interferences with function of the central nervous system. An upper cervical chiropractor can determine if there is a dysfunction in the spine and the nervous system.
